About Us
The Daly River Buffaloes Football Club is a brand new football team that officially entered the BRFL late March/early April 2022 for our inaugural season.
Hitting the ground running, we rounded up approximately $15000 in just 3 days to meet the basic costs of 15 rounds for the season, which included fuel, food, transport, and license agreement. We were fortunate to secure sponsorship to cover the cost of a new set of playing jumpers, shorts, and socks, as well as team shirts, shorts, and singlets, which are currently in production.
With only 3 weeks notice of the possibility of entering into the BRFL, we had no preseason training, but we quickly became an official entity as the Daly River Buffaloes Football Club Inc. We can confidently say that forming a football club from scratch was quite the challenge!
In our 11th round, we were lucky enough to have our supporters come out in full force on the supporters bus, and they helped us narrowly beat Garrak at Kalano Oval. It was a fantastic day, and we hope to see more of this kind of support for our team in the future.
As we head into the final stretch of the season, we are currently sitting fourth on the ladder and have the possibility of playing in the finals. We're thrilled with this accomplishment, especially considering the how fresh-faced we are in the ranks.
We recently held a home game footy Carnival and Merrepen Arts Opening day for the local community and abroad. It was a great success and we even had a few cameo appearances from our team captains and coaches, as well as some local journalists, TV programs, and radio stations.
We've now held our first DRBFC meetings as a Club, and we're looking forward to planning for the future. With the help of the Green River Aboriginal Corporation and NT Health, we were able to secure a home base football club house, which has been refurbished for our use. Additionally, we secured Suicide Awareness Funding from the NT Government to help our local community with social and emotional wellbeing. The football club is honoured to be a vehicle for helping our community members in this very serious issue.
